Adding Gmail / Google Groups: Activation Guide

Google Suite / Gmail Account

In Front

  1. Go to Settings 
  2. Click My Inbox (individual inbox) or Inbox (shared inbox)
  3. Input your Gmail address
  4. Select your Gmail account
  5. Put in your credentials
  6. Authorize Front to connect to your inbox 
  7. Send a test email to the address you just added to verify the connection works (if you run into any issues here, contact

Google Group

In Front

  1. Go to Settings > Inbox 
  2. Select Add a team inbox
  3. Input the Google Group address
  4. Select Google Group
  5. Copy Front’s forwarding address 
  6. Skip validation step

In Google Admin Console

  1. Go to your Google Group Permissions > Basic Permissions
  2. Check the box "Allow new users not in your organization"
  3. Go back and find your distribution list in your Google Group
  4. Remove all the individual from the distribution list and add Front’s forwarding address (Google will send a verification email to your Front account)

In Front

  1. Complete the validation process outlined in the Google Group invitation email
  2. Go to Settings and Inbox
  3. Search for your Google Group
  4. Scroll down and Validate your channel 
  5. In 10 seconds you will see a pop-up alert letting you know the account’s been validated

In Front - To add a custom SMTP

  1. Scroll down till you see the Custom SMTP field
  2. Enable custom SMTP and input your credentials
  3. Test connection to make sure everything works properly
  4. Save
