API requests failing for private resources

In order to make API requests to access private resources (such as listing conversations from a Teammate's private Inbox), that Teammate must have first enabled the "Allow access to my individual resources via the API"

This preference can be enabled either by the Teammate via their personal preferences, or an admin can enable this preference on their behalf by managing the Teammate's settings.

If an API request is made to attempt to retrieve/update their private data and that teammate does not have this preference enabled, you should expect to receive a 403 error response with the message:

"You do not have access to the resources of this teammate"
