How Front automatically creates contacts

Overview

Front can automatically create contacts from messages in your inboxes. If you're wondering why some contacts are listed in your Contact Manager, it's likely due to this setting. By default, contacts are created for recipients of messages sent by you and your teammates in Front. These automatically created contacts appear in contact autocomplete and in the search results of the Contacts Manager. You can adjust your automatic contact creation settings by following the steps below.

 

Note that in the new Contacts, contacts will only appear in the Company Contacts and Private Contacts lists in the Contacts Manager if a user has added them to those lists. All other automatically created contacts just appear in the search results of the Contacts Manager.


Instructions

Step 1

Go into your Settings and select Contacts. Click Preferences.Step 2

Select from the Automatically create contact dropdown.

A name will automatically be saved with your contact only when the email sender has set up a Sender Name in their email settings.

A description of each option is below:

  • Never - contacts will never be created automatically. If you want a contact created, it must be done manually. 
  • For received message - contacts will only be created when you receive a new inbound message.
  • For sent message - contacts will only be created when you send an outbound message.
  • Always - contacts will always be created upon sending or receiving a message.
