Adding Office 365: Activation Guide

Overview

Below you can find step-by-step instructions on how to connect your Office 365 Inbox or Distribution Group to Front. If you'd like an overview on how these connected inboxes will work in Front, check out – Office 365: What To Expect.

Office 365 Outlook

*Make sure you're setting up a redirection and not setting up a rule to forward.

In Front

  1. Go to Settings 
  2. Click My Inbox (individual inbox) or Inbox (shared inbox)
  3. Input your Office365 inbox address
  4. Copy the Front forwarding address

In Office365 Outlook

  1. Settings and Mail under Your app settings
  2. Under Accounts select Forwarding
  3. Paste your Front forwarding address
  4. Save

In Front

  1. Go to Settings 
  2. Find the account you created under either My Inbox or Inbox
  3. Scroll down and Validate your channel 
  4. In 10 seconds you will see a pop-up alert letting you know the account’s been validated

Add Custom SMTP

  1. Scroll down till you see the Custom SMTP field
  2. Enable custom SMTP and input your credentials
  3. Test connection to make sure everything is good
  4. Save

Office 365 Distribution Group

In Front

  1. Go to Settings 
  2. Click Inbox 
  3. Input your Office365 distribution list address
  4. Copy the Front forwarding address

In Office365 Admin Console

  1. In the left navigation, go to Users then Contact
  2. Add a contact and paste the Front forwarding address in the email field
  3. In the left navigation, go to Groups then groups
  4. Find the Office365 distribution list you connected to Front
  5. Edit the Members that are part of the group 
  6. Remove everyone from the group and replace it with the Front contact you created

In Front

  1. Go to Settings 
  2. Find the account you created under  Inbox
  3. Scroll down and Validate your channel 
  4. In 10 seconds you will see a pop-up alert letting you know the account’s been validated

  • we are trying to set up an outlook distribution group in front, however there are extra members of the group that will not be using front, so i'd like them to remain in the group and receive emails as normal. is this achievable?

    I believe your Customer Success Manager will be reaching out, but we don't suggest using Front and Outlook at the same time as you will experience issues.
